Can i install on unsupported motherboard?

  • i have a ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z, which is Z68 board... can i go with supported Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3?

    The audio and lan are different. Most likely you would get a kernel panic. You could try iBoot and multibeast method. Google "working ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z hackintosh" and see if there is a guide. (For example, here is one thread on the topic http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=30091&start=0 )

  • Go to the Gigabyte websight and use the compare features function and compare your p35 board to the supported p45 boards. Use the closest board as your base to install. Remember to delete the DSDT file for the p45 board from the /Extra folder before rebooting or you will get a kernel panic. You may also need to add EvoReboot kext and nullCPUPowerManagement kext to /Extra/Extensions. Your audio probably won't work, so you will need to google to find kext files for it - same for onboard network chipset drivers.
