    Hats off to Kakewalk!

My girlfriend got the brilliant idea to do a hackintosh about a hear ago. She ordered a bunch of parts that a friend had suggested and asked me to do all the heavy lifting. After a bunch of attempts with a bunch of different approaches I was ready to chuck the thing in the dumpster. She insisted we hold on to it and sell the parts or sell it to someone as a PC.

    A year goes by....

Just for the hell of it I checked online to see if any progress had been made in making the hackintosh thing easier. Holy S*!T what a difference a year makes.

Kakewalk was by far the easiest OS X install I'd ever done! I've been ranting about it to friends and even convinced a few to do their own builds with Kakewalk.

I'm a video producer so having the power of a $4,000 Mac Pro for $2,000 - including a mad CUDA card - is a huge blessing to my bottom line and my productivity.

So, here's what I'm running right now:

    Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
    Intel i7-930
    OWC 6 x 4.0GB PC8500 DDR3 ECC 1066MHz 240 Pin (had it around from another Mac Pro)
    nVidia GTS 250
    D-Link DWA-556 PCIe Wifi card
    NitroAV 2-Channel Firewire 800/400 PCIe x1 Card
    Intel 80GB SSD
    Samsung CD/DVD burner
    Cooler Master V8 cooler
Cooler Master ATCS 840 Aluminum ATX Full Tower Case Silver

What I'm planning on running soon:

nVidia GTX 480 - need this to run Resolve at full-tilt, from all I've read it should be fine OOP
Corsair Hydro Series H70 Core Liquid Cooler - Just so I can say my machine is liquid cooled.

Thanks again Kakewalk!!! Never again will I pay for a Mac Pro.
