Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 using Onboard VGA full resolution Success!!
  • Due to my gtx470 having issues I decided to see what all the fuss was using the onboard VGA. I removed my GTX card and booted into Lion and default low resolution. Once in Lion I installed Chimera 1.6. Please note that this will only work on second gen Intel i3, i5 and i7.
I restarted my comp once again and now have full resolution and bellow is what it shows me in system information:

    Intel HD Graphics 3000:

Chipset Model: Intel HD Graphics 3000

      Type: GPU

      Bus: Built-In

      VRAM (Total): 512 MB

      Vendor: Intel (0x8086)

      Device ID: 0x0126

      Revision ID: 0x0009

      Displays:

    SyncMaster:

      Resolution: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz

      Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)

      Display Serial Number: H1AK500000

      Main Display: Yes

      Mirror: Off

      Online: Yes

      Rotation: Supported

After doing a little bit of homework I find out a little more when it comes to video MEM Size example on mine it shows VRAM 512 and you might think oh is that all, but that is only what it boots with and then if the cpu needs more it can go I think anywhere up to 1.600gig and to tell you the truth I reckon my comp works better with this onboard via than with the GTX.
My most current geekscore with this setup is: 14172

  • I want to use the VGA port so i instal chimera 1.7 but the apple logo freezes at starup, and then i use my usb to starup lion again and instal kakewalk,
    motherboard Z68X-UD3H-B3
    Intel Core i7 Processor i7-2600K
can you tell me how you exactly instal chimera i think i am doing something wrong, thanks
  • So i did a deep study and find out that is not on VGA YOU Can only used on DVI AFTER 5 days
  • @thematrix as long as you boot into Chimera (which (loosely) is all it does) and see a screen resembling this: http://img6.imagebanana.com/img/lumhav6p/IMG_0392.JPG then it is installed. Then type "GraphicsEnabler=No" (not including the "s) before hitting enter to select your drive (both for the install USB and OS X HDD when its made) to use the onboard graphics. Also if you have multiple sticks of RAM especially 4Gb+ installed you might want to try dropping back to just a single stick for the install then reinstalling them later and seeing what happens.
    Happy iHac-ing (;
